Obsession of the Day: Mardi Gras Masks

As week-long celebrations for Mardi Gras kick off around the world, a major component they all share are masks.  Originally, masks were worn to keep the upper class and secret society members anonymous during Fat Tuesday debaucheries.  Present day, whether in Venice, Italy, New Orleans, USA, or Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, masks have become an intricate part of the elaborate costumes people sport for the holiday. Here are a few I have collected over the years from New Orleans, USA, and Venice, Italy. Bottoms up!
