More was more, during Paris Fashion Week’s Balmain Fall/Winter 2012 Runway Show. And seriouslyyy– the baroque embroidery and embellishments of pearls, crystals, studs, quilting and needlepoint florals were mind-blowingly opulent.
Each piece of this collection is sure to be an investment-worthy collectors item, the same way Elizabeth Taylor collected gems, which is only appropriate. Olivier Rousteing’s entire collection for Balmain was supposedly inspired by czarist gems, and meant to resemble jeweled Faberge eggs. #CannotGetEnough.
I found the above images from Self Service Magazine and instantly fell in love with the behind-the-scenes imagery Photographer Billy Nava captured with close-ups of the garments to really show each piece. Even though the runway show took place a few weeks ago, I am clearly still obsessing over this collection, and can only hope to be there next time to experience the magic of Balmain during Paris Fashion Week in person. ***sighhh***
