I would have to say, hands down, that the number one question people ask me on the daily is: “What are the major trends for the upcoming season, and how can I incorporate the trends into my own style?” Welllll, you may remember yesterday I lost my cool over this editorial, for its pattern mash-up madness.

I would have to say out of all the trends for Fall 12, pattern play is my #1 favorite trend because of it’s flexibility and well… FUN. Anyone can partake in this trend… unless patterns and prints give you hives upon contact. I would bed $10 you already have pieces in your wardrobe that you can build on to make this trend a reality for everyday wear. I am talking mixing floral tees with striped skirts, and polka dot tanks with geometric patterend pants here… not rocket science.

You are probably now sitting there reading this post, conjuring the thought of looking like a self-dressed four-year-old who doesn’t know their left foot from their right. {I would never do that to you}. The trick to mastering this trend is to keep your entire outfit in the same family of colors or colors that compliment eachother. For example, let’s talk about the green Marni Blouse {#6} below. Why not pair it with a pair of silvery-black jeans… in a baroque pattern {#12}. You see what I did there? Match colors you are already wearing together, just in print form.
